Why a home office is a must have.

Working from home provides various economies. For a start, you may be able to reduce the number of vehicles you have, if you normally drive to work. If you only have one car and would normally commute on the train, you can make vast savings on season tickets by working at home.

Time spent travelling to offices is actually a huge waste, Imagine for a minute not having that hour long commute every day and every evening. That is two hours a day, or 480 hours a year (halve that if you only travel 30 minutes!). So you spend twelve working weeks a year travelling if you commute for an hour or six working weeks if you only travel half an hour to work! That is (you must agree) potentially a huge waste of time!

Not only is time and money spent in commuting, but on those particularly windy, cold, rainy and even icy days, wouldn't it be much nice to only commute from your garden office to your house?

As a boss, it can be a huge perk to give your employees the freedom to work at home (if you can let them have that freedom). It can be a real bonus for someone to work for you if they can have better quality of life through lack of commuting, not to mention the extra time they have and savings made on travelling. Studies have shown that many people are actually more productive when home working, so think on... Not only that, but you can make huge savings in renting and servicing office space if you or your employees work from home.

Quality of life is an important thing. Having worked from home for many years, I would be loathed to give it up. I have seen my children grow up and am here (most of the time) to see them off in the morning and greet them in the evening. Flexibility of having a home office also makes it easier to pop into the office at odd times, such as early morning before breakfast or in an evening.
